Skanks, skanking

(For those who do not know, when I refer to the words skanks or skanking, I mean a dance or dancing)

When will it end?
There are too many skanks out there at the moment and to be honest they're not really credible are they, well if they're anything like that 'head, shoulders, knees and toes' dance they ain't credible.
The Facebook Skank (no, no, no), the Jungle Skank (not feeling it) the Migraine Skank (tut, tut, tut), this is the original Migraine Skank.............

Anyway, to answer my original question I don't think the skanks will ever stop and I suppose it's all a bit of fun.

Chipmunk

I hate to use the term 'selling out' but I do feel it is appropriate for this tune .......
I suppose I would say I' am a fan of Chipmunks but feel he is compromising himself featuring on a song like this. It is too watered down for my liking, it is not a typical Chipmunk tune and it is too radio friendly.

Take my advice Chip diddy chip and TURN OFF THE RADIO!!!

Dizzee not Bonkers

Dizzee Rascal is not 'Bonkers', but very clever he is so on point with this tune. At first I wasn't feeling it but after listening to it four or five times continuously it has grown on me.

When I first heard Dizzee was collaborating with Armand Van Helden I wasn't sure, but the proof is in the pudding and an A* tune was formed.

To reiterate how on point Dizzee is with this tune, it's released just in time for festival season, the summertime is on its way and I can just imagine this being a massive summer anthem and going down very well when performed live.

A very good look for Dizzee Rascal.

The Tatianas

The Tatianas are a 3 piece Indie-Rock band from France (Paris to be precise) and personally these guys are going to be the next big French export.

I remember seeing these guys at the Rhythm Factory in Whitechapel almost 2 years ago now and was totally mesmerized. Heavily influenced by The Libertine's with the lead man having a nonchalant swagger a bit similar to Pete Doherty, they absolutely tore the place up.

These lads have their UK Single release party on the 8th April @ The Old Blue Last and we at TOTR recommend you go and see them.

102 Minutes that Changed America

102 Minutes That Changed America is a 102-minute television special documentary film that was produced by History. The film depicts in virtually real time the New York-based events of the September 11 attacks primarily using raw video footage from mostly amateur citizen journalists.

I watched this documentary yesterday and nearly 8 years after the attacks I'm still shocked and saddened by the events of Sept 11th 2001. I recommend this documentary to anyone, but obviously some of the content is hard to watch. I also would like to congratulate the History channel by compiling all the amateur footage together and producing a great documentary.

R.I.P to all of the people who lost their lives on that sad and unforgettable day.

Maverick Sabre

This is a video of Michael Stafford aka Maverick Sabre performing at TOTR last month, he opened the show and was absolutely amazing. I got 'butterflies' watching this guy and the last time I got butterflies watching an act was when we had Adele down to perform, Maverick Sabre is that GOOD.
Any A&R's reading this or by any chance a record label sign this guy up quick. He is a great, emerging talent and we at TOTR very much appreciated him performing at our night.

Google street view shows Google maps which provide street level panoramic photographs from the roads of many UK towns and cities.

At first I thought this was amazing but then it dawned on me how scary this is and how stalkers and other weirdo's can use this to their sick advantage (a slight overreaction, but you get my point).

Maybe Google should re-think about making this accessible.

My Summer look .....

I may be jumping way ahead of myself as it is only March and as a Londoner am very deprived of Sunshine, but I'm keeping positive and look forward to this summer.
Last summer was a bit of an anti climax with a couple days of sun and the rest grey and overcast, but I have high hopes for 09 summertime and have even planned my look (I must stress this is not a daily look).

How sad you say? But trust me it's truly inspiring.

Straw hats/trilby's, deep v neck T-Shirts, shorts and Boats shoes will be the look this summer, remember who told you first.

GOOGLE BANS YOUTUBE MUSIC VIDEOS IN THE UK!!!!

As of today, Youtube users in the UK will no longer be able to watch music videos by their favourite artists, because search engine giant Google (who owns Youtube!!) has got beef with the organization PRS!!


PRS for Music, is an organization that issues licenses to companies who use music as a part of their business, PRS also ensure artists/songwriters/ producers are protected when it comes to royalties, and copyright etc. etc.
So the beef started cos Googles' license is up, and PRS want to up the dough Google/Youtube pay each time someone plays a music video. Google said they'll lose money and PRS are saying the same thing.

But whilst these two mega-organizations argue over £££ you the UK user of Youtube will suffer. TYPICAL we say.

Lets just hope this gets resolved ASAP.

I absolutely love this restaurant and have been once a week for the last 3 weeks, it's a sit down restaurant and I very much recommend the 'Curry Goat with Rice and Peas and Festivals', for those who do not know what festivals are they are little round fried dumplings ....JUST TOO GOOD

BTW, The Jerk chicken is mighty good too....

Narrative and characters are of paramount importance to appleseed: he wants listeners to be able to relate to his Music and recognise aspects of the story in their own lives. There are certain issues and experiences that affect us all and appleseed wants us to realise that these can transcend superficial boundaries and unite us.

Along with his songwriting partner, Semi di Mela, appleseed uses the Concrete Jungle EP to tell the story of Michael (Mickey) and introduce us to the characters he meets along the way. In appleseed’s words, the EP is about:

“A child gets a Timeout In the Concrete Jungle, to avoid being Stuck In The Mud or Man’s Best Friend so he or she can be as Fly as they have always dreamed…
