TOTR recommend - Declaration of Dependence

Kings of Convenience are an indie folk-pop duo from Norway. Consisting of Erlend Oye and Eirik Glambek Boe, they are best known for their delicate tunes, calming voices, and intricate and subtle guitar melodies.

Now, three albums deep they have just released 'Declaration of Dependence' and I declare this as their best work to date. It's a sublime effort with stand out tracks 'Mrs Cold and Rule My World' , which are both upbeat and catchy.

If  you like chilled out, acoustic style music then you cannot go wrong with 'Declaration of Dependence', this deserves to be in eveyone's CD collection.

So what you waiting for, GO COP IT!

To find out more about 'KOC' check out their myspace at www.myspace.com/kingsofconvenience

Lily Allen - Who'd have known

Personally, I am not a fan of Lily Allen and I definitely do not like her latest album 'It’s Not Me, It’s You'. Frankly, I think it's an over-hyped piece of shit. However, this is the latest video for the single 'who'd have known' and I quite like this, the video that is.

I wonder what Elton John would think of this?

London to Paris

LONDON TO PARIS from Amazing Grace on Vimeo.

This documentary looks like it's going to be amazing, it's about ten cyclists who meet up in London and ride to paris to meet legend Lance Armstrong.

I recently completed the London to Southend bike ride for Charity and that was hard, I couldn't imagine how hard riding to Paris woud be.

Anyway, look out for this documentary 'London to Paris' by filmmaker Grace Ladoja

X Factor

X Factor the live show starts tomorrow and to be honest I am quite excited, I think there are some good performers this year and it could potentially be the best X Factor series so far.

This is the first year that I have really watched the X Factor from the start. I thought the auditions were a bit of a farce but other than that it's been quite enjoyable to watch.

I am most looking forward to seeing Oliver Murs perform I was impressed by his audition and he also had a decent boot camp, lets just hope he can re-produce it in his live performances.

Vote the devil twins out, I cannot stand them and Louis Walsh is a complete idiot for choosing them. Mind you he does like his boys young. LOL

Will there be another Leona Lewis or Alexandra Burke this year I don't know but here's to some good performances and some great TV.

Here's a reminder of last years winner:

Sampling

"Sampling is the act of taking a portion, or sample, of one sound recording and reusing it as an instrument or a different sound recording of a song".

Now listen to the songs below and check out how the sample from the Bruce Johnston tune was used. I don't actually like the Chipmunk song but I do like the way he used the sample, the anthrax track is also another example of how the sample was used.

Lee Brasco – credit crunch

Mr Brasco is lyrically on point in this tune, but isn't he always and the video is very creative too!

Credit crunch will feature on his upcoimng mixtape 'deep with the lines Vol 1'. Go cop it.
