Another legend gone.......

Album Review - The Candle Thieves: Sunshine and Other Misfortunes

Peterborough's pop duo Scott McEwan and Glockenshiels not only steal candles but, have just stolen over forty minutes of my life that I am never going to get back. Am I complaining? Absolutely not.

The spectacle wearing pair have just released their debut album and what an endearing effort it is. Think 'The Bird and The Bee' meets 'The Magic Numbers' . It's a massive, heap of uplifting pop, a definite well timed release for the pending summer.

There is a reoccurring theme of death, however, this is not a morbid album it's quite the opposite and with track entitled We're All Gonna Die (Have Fun). The message is simple, enjoy yourselves.

I definitely enjoyed this album and no doubt you will too. Stand out tracks are 'Sharks and Bears' and 'Catching wasps'.

This album, Sunshine and Other Misfortunes, is certainly not unique but it is bittersweet and bright and worthy of a listen.

TOTR rating: 3/5

East End Film Festival 2010

The East End Film Festival showcases hot new talent and homegrown films alongside larger independent releases and special events, informing and inspiring a new generation of filmmakers and audiences from across London and beyond, and raising the profile of this vibrant and diverse area - London’s East End.

One of the films to be premiered during the film festival is 'The Rime Of The Modern Mariner'. A new documentary film about the London Docks in the uniquely atmospheric church setting of the Hawksmoor Church of St Anne’s at Limehouse.

‘The Rime of the Modern Mariner’. directed by journalist Mark Donne and narrated by musician Carl Barat, focuses on what happened to the culture, community and folklore of the London Docks - for hundreds of years the watery capital of a maritime nation and the largest port on earth until its closure in the late 1960’s left an entire way of life sucked into a vacuum.

The Rime of the Modern Mariner will be premiered on Friday 23rd April to book tickets click here.

Louis Spence - Pineapple Studios

I've been watching this TV programme religiously and I love it. However, I think I love Louis more (just a tad more).

It's all about him (just him) and how he still has the ability to dance and how fabulous he is. Believe it or not he still does have the ability to dance but I can just imagine how much of a twat he must be in reality.

Check out his best bits.

Lethal B - Go, Go, Go

I'm kinda feeling this tune, it has similar elements to Dizzee's bonkers and no doubt it's going to be a big summertime hit in its own right.

Hat's off to Lethal. Potential UK No.1 who know's?
